PHILADELPHIA (CN) - Hip-hop star Rakim A$AP Rocky Mayers hit a fan in the face so hard he knocked her down, and she's still suffering nearly a year later, she claims in court.
Lisamarie Wade sued Mayers and his entourage, Live Nation Entertainment, Roc Nation, and the John Doe security employers and employees and event organizers and subcontractors, on July 17 in Federal Court.
She claims Mayers slapped her in the face as he made his way through a swelling crowd at the Made in America festival in Philadelphia in September 2013.
Criminal charges against Mayers were dismissed in May after a state's witness failed to appear at trial.
Wade says she continues to suffer from "muscle spasm, migraine headaches, intense pain that radiates from her shoulders and into her arms and fingers, and exacerbation of pre-existing conditions."
Mayers, the flagship member of the A$AP Mob hip, has a history of assault reports. In June 2013, video footage surfaced of Mayers that seemed to show him slapping a female fan at a concert in Australia after she blew him a kiss.
In July 2012, he was arrested for beating a man inside a New York clothing store after the man caught him using drugs. Mayers struck a plea deal and was sentenced to probation and three days of community service.
In October 2012, reports surfaced of Mayers and fellow rappers attacking a stagehand at a New York venue after they complained of the small size of the stage. The man, according to reports, was hospitalized.
Wade seeks compensatory and punitive damages for civil assault and battery, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, negligence and premises liability.
