14,296 FedEx drivers’ overtime claims severed

PITTSBURGH — A federal court in Pennsylvania severed the claims of more than 14,000 delivery drivers who sued FedEx for alleged overtime violations, finding the workers improperly attempted to pursue nationwide mass actions after abandoning class and collective claims in related litigation. The drivers say the company failed to pay overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act and state laws, but must now file individual lawsuits within 60 days in the appropriate forums because the claims do not arise from the same occurrences and would require individualized proof.
