Afghan baby adoption battle

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A federal court in Virginia denied a Marine and his wife’s motion to vacate a protective order allowing an Afghan family to use pseudonyms in their lawsuit challenging the Marine’s adoption of their child. They have properly shown how their fear of retaliation from the Taliban outweighs the unfairness of remaining pseudonymous while the Marine and his wife must be named in the suit. They are found in contempt, however, for sending photos of the baby to a nonprofit for fundraising purposes, a knowing violation of the protective order.
