A court in Kabul, Afghanistan has sentenced to death a 23-year-old journalism student for giving classmates an article printed off the Internet that criticized Muslim treatment of women. Sayad Parwez Kambaksh, who did not have a lawyer at his trial, was accused of insulting Islam. The National Journalists Union of Afghanistan has protested the death sentence; a clerical council demanded it.
