(CN) – A federal class action in North Carolina accuses air-bag manufacturer Takata and Honda Motors of hiding potentially fatal defects in their air bag deflators. The lawsuit comes just two weeks after similar class actions were filed in Los Angeles and Miami. Plaintiffs in all three cases claim Takata air bags can violently explode and expel lethal amounts of metal debris and shrapnel. Plaintiffs seek Erin Meiser, Marjorie Avery and Sonya Leonard seek a declaration that the airbags are defective, injunctive relief banning their distribution, as well as compensatory or punitive damages. They are represented by Gary Rickner, Lynwood Evans and Caroline McLean of Ward and Smith P.A. in Asheville, N.C.
