(CN) – An Air France commercial flight carrying 228 people from Rio de Janeiro to Paris disappeared from radar this morning, leading officials to believe it went down in the Atlantic Ocean. The jet apparently passed through a thunderstorm before losing electronic contact with controllers. The plane, an Airbus 330, carried 216 passengers and a crew of 12.
