ATTORNEYS – The Army appeals court upheld a military judge’s decision to disqualify the appellant’s civilian defense counsel, ruling that it did not violate his Sixth Amendment right to counsel. The court found that the defense counsel’s representation at trial might violate a statute designed to protect the integrity of government functions, including trial proceedings, and the counsel’s representation created a “serious potential for conflict.” See ruling.
