Attorney fees to retired NFL running back

DALLAS — A retired NFL player is still entitled to attorney fees even though the Fifth Circuit overturned an ERISA verdict in his favor, ruled a Texas federal court. Former running back Michael Cloud sued an NFL retirement plan for wrongfully denying him top-tier disability benefits in light of his severe head trauma. The Fifth Circuit reversed the court’s verdict on “narrow grounds,” but Cloud found some success on the merits of his claim, so he is still entitled to attorney fees.
