(CN) – A New York attorney lost his law license because he falsely claimed to be harmed by the Sept. 11 attacks at the World Trade Center. Hidetoshi Cho pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges in 2006. He had asked the Red Cross, Safe Horizon, Small Business Administration and other agencies for help, falsely claiming that he lost business and suffered property damage in the terrorist attacks. Safe Horizon had given him $2,500. Cho was deported to Japan in 2007, and in a per-curiam decision, the justices of the Manhattan-based First New York Appellate Division struck him from the roll of attorneys.
