LAS VEGAS (CN) – Robert Allen Stanford, the Texas billionaire accused by federal officials of running an $8 billion Ponzi scam, now is accused of failing to pay gambling debts to the Bellagio Casino. The casino says Stanford owes $258,480 for 14 gambling markers between Jan. 15 and Jan. 22. It claims all 14 checks were returned unpaid. In February, the Securities and Exchange Commission charged Stanford and three other executives at the Houston-based Stanford Financial of selling fraudulent CDs offering above-market rates through Stanford International Bank, an offshore bank in Antigua. The Bellagio is represented by Bruce Aguilera.
