Bursar Used School Funds as Her Piggy Bank

(CN) – A former community college bursar admitted that she embezzled $398,000 to pay her credit card bills, federal prosecutors say.      Brandi Henson, 49, of Yukon, Okla., pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of wire fraud in Oklahoma City Federal Court.     As an Oklahoma City Community College burar from 2003 to 2011, prosecutors say Henson routinely process refunds to student credit cards by accessing the school’s Paypal account.     But Henson also posted the money to her personal credit card and paid off over $398,000 debt.     As part of her plea agreement, Henson agreed to pay $398,315.12 in restitution. She faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. A sentencing date will be set within 90 days.
