LAS VEGAS (CN) – The Clark County Court was flooded with 655 lawsuits on Tuesday as attorneys rushed to beat significant filing fee increases. One clerk commented, “We consider 150 to be a busy day.” During its latest session, the Nevada State Assembly passed a bill that increased civil filing fees for complaints, answers, business court, complex litigation and probate guardianships, effective July 1. The most significant increase was to filing business court matters – from about $100 to $1,510. Fees to file a civil complaint doubled, from about $140 to $249.
