ENVIRONMENT, ADMINISTRATIVE LAW – Schutte & Koerting and Ametek Inc. challenged a regional board order that required S&K to take certain remedial measures at a toxic cleanup site. The appeals court found that any party aggrieved by a final order of the regional board may seek judicial review of that order by filing a petition for writ of mandate in superior court within 30 days. ELECTIONS – A California appeals court found that the practice of filling in signers’ addresses for them after a signer signs and addresses one petition and then hurriedly signs another six petitions effectively obliterates the statutory protections afforded election officials as individuals.
