Challenge to wetlands fill-in proceeds in federal court

CHARLESTON, S.C. — A federal court in South Carolina allowed environmental groups’ challenge to proceed against the Army Corps of Engineers over the authorization of a project to “fill in” 180 acres of wetlands for commercial and residential development. The government failed to prepare an environmental impact statement, so the group may bring a citizen suit under the Clean Water Act.
