Bobby Fischer, America’s greatest chess player, who descended into a strange and deluded world in his final decades, has died in Reykjavik, Iceland, a hospital spokesman there said. Fischer, a brilliant and artistic player who won the world chess championship from Boris Spassky in 1972, was 64.
