(CN) – Citigroup will pay $7 billion to settle a federal investigation into its sale of mortgage-backed securities, the banking group said Monday. Four billion dollars will go to the federal government, $500 million to state attorneys general and the FDIC, and another $2.5 billion to so-called “consumer relief.”
