Citizens Test Michigan Recall Statute

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. (CN) – The Michigan law that states, “A person circulating a petition shall be a qualified and registered elector in the electoral district of the official sought to be recalled,” is an unconstitutional restraint on speech, three citizens claim in Kent County Court. They want to recall state Rep. Robert Dean. One plaintiff, from Oklahoma, is a “professional signature gatherer.” See complaint.
