SANTA ANA, Calif. (CN) – ChexSystems, a consumer credit reporting agency, blackballs consumers and prevents them from opening bank accounts by reporting “vague, ambiguous or inaccurate” reports to banks, a class action claims in Federal Court. The class claims ChexSystems makes these reports “whether or not the consumer has a legitimate dispute associated with the information reported by ChexSystems.” Plaintiffs say ChexSystems conspires with banks to violate consumer laws and do business unfairly. They demand punitive damages and are represented by Peter Recchia.
