Clobbered over coins

COTTONWOOD, Ala. (CN) — An Alabama federal judge allowed a small town resident’s assault, battery and false arrest lawsuit to proceed against the police officers who allegedly chased, tackled and beat her outside the town hall “for the transgression of trying to pay [her water bill] with coins.” This “drastic use of force” was not prompted by criminal activity, so they do not enjoy immunity on her claims.
