MANHATTAN (CN) – An art collector says Lyn Segal Fine Art sold her a fake Chagall watercolor for $145,000. Joy Glass claims that both the painting and the certificate of authenticity were bogus. Glass claims that 3 months after she bought the watercolor from the E. 77th Street gallery, Comite Chagall Vice President Meret Meyer informed her that both the painting and the certificate were fake. Glass says Segal refused to refund her money. Glass says Lyn Segal and Lyn Segal Fine Art are alter egos, operating out of and living at the same address. The complaint in adds, “Segal**** caused Fine Art to be undercapitalized. As a result, Fine Art may be unable to meet its obligations, including its obligations to plaintiff.” Glass wants her money back. She is represented in New York County Court by Jon Paul Robbins with McLaughlin & Stern.
