New York state and the United States brought a <strong><a href="http://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/ticonderoga.pdf">federal complaint</a></strong> Wednesday that says the town of Ticonderoga has failed since 2014 to remove cryptosporidium from public water sources including Gooseneck Pond, the Chilson Reservoir and the Baldwin Road filtration plant.

ALBANY, N.Y. – New York state and the United States brought a federal complaint Wednesday that says the town of Ticonderoga has failed since 2014 to remove cryptosporidium from public water sources including Gooseneck Pond, the Chilson Reservoir and the Baldwin Road filtration plant.

Under the terms of the consent decree filed simultaneously with the complaint, the town will install drinking-water wells as well as a storage tank at a cost of approximately $13 million. Another provision of the settlement sets a June 2020 deadline for Ticonderoga to improve the Baldwin Road filter plant. Meantime the town must notify the public immediately if sampling indicates any elevated risk of cryptosporidium contamination.
