The Detroit Medical Center’s former director of emergency services claims she was fired for refusing orders to hire only black people. She claims, among other things, that her boss told her “to screen for black candidates by looking for names like ‘Ray-Ray’ or ‘Shaletha,’” in Macomb County Court. Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: SCIS Air Security Corp., in Los Angeles Superior Court; LPL Financial Corp., in San Diego Federal Court; Verisign, in Santa Clara County Court, Calif.; Pinkerton Government Services, in St. Louis County Court, Clayton, Mo.; Monument Construction Corp., in DC Federal Court; and Thermoguard Florida, in Fort Lauderdale Federal Court. (Companies not separated by commas are defendants in the same case.)
