MANHATTAN (CN) – A former auxiliary police sergeant for the NYPD was sentenced Tuesday to 10 3/4 years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute cocaine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. Rafael Jimenez, 58, of New York City, pleaded guilty in November 2010, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement. A co-defendant, retired NYPD Officer Alfredo Rivera, was convicted after a four-day jury trial in February of conspiring to distribute cocaine and carrying while he did it. Rivera, 53, of the Bronx, faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of life at his May 18 sentencing.
