Facebook to pay nearly $1M for ‘gaslighting’ court

SAN FRANCISCO — A federal court in California ordered Facebook and its law firm, Gibson Dunn, to pay $925,000 to the litigants in a privacy class action after the tech giant used “delay, misdirection, and frivolous arguments to make litigation unfairly difficult and expensive for their opponents,” ignored the magistrate’s instructions and baselessly accused the plaintiffs of delaying the case and obstructing discovery.
