FBI Agent Stole $136,000 in Drug Money

LOS ANGELES (CN) — An FBI agent faces years in prison after pleading guilty Monday to stealing $136,000 in seized drug money, falsifying reports and tampering with a witness.     Scott M. Bowman, 45, of Moreno Valley pleaded guilty to conversion of property by a federal employee, obstruction of justice, falsifying records and witness tampering, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.     U.S. District Judge Jesus Bernal will sentence him on Aug. 15.     Bowman admitted he swiped cash seized in executing three search warrants in June and August 2014. He spent $43,850 on a 2012 Dodge Challenger coupe, $27,500 on a 2013 Toyota Scion FR-S coupe, and another $26,612 to outfit them with new speakers, rims, tires and other equipment, the U.S. attorney said.     He also admitted he spent $15,000 for cosmetic surgery for his wife and put $10,665 into a checking account.     The witness tampering charge stems from Bowman’s instructions to a police detective about what happened to the money.     The Department of Justice’s Office of Inspector General investigated and nabbed him.
