Feds protect frogs

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed a rule to designate over 760,000 acres of critical habitat in California under the Endangered Species Act to help protect the foothill yellow-legged frog. The imperiled frog populations have disappeared from many of their habitats due to the impact of dams and water diversions on stream hydrology.
