Former Marine loses FOIA lawsuit against the Navy

SAN DIEGO — A California federal judge granted summary judgment in favor of the U.S. Navy on the FOIA lawsuit brought by a retired Marine lieutenant colonel who sought emails related to a major general and other Navy personnel’s scheme to sell memorial memorabilia under the table. They may have deleted the requested emails before the FOIA requests came in, and nothing about the Navy’s explanation of its search process “evidence[s] bad faith.”
