From extortion to suicide

PHILADELPHIA — A federal court in Pennsylvania dismissed a mother and father’s negligence claims against a bank that was allegedly negligent in responding to the extortion scheme their son was victim to; the young man died by suicide the same day he went to the bank and was told he could not access his funds after the fraudsters took thousands from him. “Unfortunately, we are left only with heart-wrenching “what ifs” that are compelling, yet not legally cognizable.”
