WASHINGTON (CN) – Unemployment rose to 9.4 percent in May, the highest since 1983, after the month saw the loss of 345,000 jobs said a report released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Nonetheless, Commissioner Keith Hall called the numbers a “significant improvement in job loss,” from the past six months when losses averaged 643,000 each month.
