Keeping Kids in Psych Wards

<span style="font-weight: 400;">A federal court in Illinois <a href="http://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/kidsinpsychewards-1.pdf"><strong>dismissed</strong></a> the Cook County Public Guardian’s suit accusing the Department of Child and Family Services of keeping kids in psychiatric wards for extended periods of time even after they have been medically cleared for release. </span>

CHICAGO – A federal court in Illinois dismissed the Cook County Public Guardian’s suit accusing the Department of Child and Family Services of keeping kids in psychiatric wards for extended periods of time even after they have been medically cleared for release.

The court ruled the guardian should limit the named defendants to those he can offer more specific allegations against. He has 28 days to file an amended complaint.
