BRUSSELS – The European Commission said Friday it has approved Lufthansa’s acquisition of regional carrier LGW, a subsidiary of bankrupt Air Berlin, after the EU’s largest airline agreed to drop a bid for a second Air Berlin subsidiary and give up slots at Dusseldorf airport.
