Maine river cleanup

PORTLAND, Maine — A federal judge approved a consent decree that commits at least $187 million to remediate the Penobscot River after a former chlor-alkali plant contaminated the area with mercury for more than five decades. The settlement will "commence one of the largest environmental cleanups in Maine history."
