Masked witnesses

HOUSTON — An appeals court in Texas ruled that the trial court should not have required witnesses to wear facial coverings during a January 2023 trial, as this violated defendant’s right to confront witnesses testifying against her. Her guilty verdict, for aggravated assault, is vacated and the case must have a new trial.
