Mass. Supreme: No pretrial detention for armed robbery

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Supreme Court determined that armed robbery is not a crime that allows the state to seek pretrial detention and vacates an order for the pretrial detention of a criminal defendant. “Armed robbery may be committed through the application of minimal physical force (such as a purse snatching), and without the display or otherwise use of a weapon.”
