EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (CN) – Alton School District officials knew a band teacher had an inappropriate relationship with a girl in his class but did nothing to stop it, the girl’s mother claims in Madison County Court. The mother says school officials saw Matthew Lang, 36, and the 16-year-old girl leave school together in Lang’s vehicle. Lang, who has resigned, was charged in August with criminal assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. The mother, Jane Doe, seeks damages for negligence and wanton conduct. She is represented by Thomas Falb of Alton.
