European Space Agency astronaut Paulo Nespoli took this photo of the moon’s shadow over North America during the total solar eclipse on Monday.
From Nespoli’s perch on the International Space Station 248 miles above Earth, he and his fellow astronauts crossed the path of the eclipse three times during their 90-minute orbits around the planet.
