Movie idea not stolen

BROOKLYN — A screenwriter lost his copyright infringement lawsuit against filmmaker Mattson Tomlin, whose Netflix movie “Project Power” allegedly stole ideas from the screenwriter’s script, “Way Out West.” Both stories center on a substance that give users superhuman abilities for just five minutes. The screenwriter’s copyright to his script is valid, but he failed to argue that Tomlin or Netflix accessed it from the Writers Guild of America database or that the two projects are substantially similar.
