Murder or suicide?

NEW ORLEANS — A federal court in Louisiana found in favor of the widow of a sheriff employee who was acquitted of his murder following a jury trial. The dead man’s sons say she should be disqualified as the primary beneficiary under the man’s two life insurance policies, but the court agrees that merely reducing the burden of proof as to the woman’s guilt should not implicate her after the jury unanimously acquitted her. She now seeks to recover $130,000 under one policy while the second insurer investigates whether it suicide exclusion applies in this case.
