SAN DIEGO (CN) – A former boss in the Arellano-Felix drug cartel faces up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to smuggling more than 5 tons of cocaine into the United States. Rigoberto Yanez Guerrero was extradited from Mexico in December 2010. Yanez admitted he was a member of the violent drug cartel from 1995 to 2001. He pleaded guilty Thursday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. He was charged with drug dealing, money laundering and organized crime. He will be sentenced on Oct. 3. At a street value of $50 a gram, 5 tons of cocaine would bring in $250 million.
