Nevada canal adjustments

LAS VEGAS — The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation secured summary judgment on the Nevada city of Fenley’s lawsuit over the bureau’s approval of a plan to repair a canal by partially lining it, reducing groundwater available to the city. The partial lining is meant to address canal erosion caused by a flood from the source river. The bureau’s decision followed a reasonable discussion of water quality impacts among alternative options, including doing nothing about the erosion, and the plan it chose will mitigate reduced recharge.
