New districts OK’d

NEW BERN, N.C. — A federal court in North Carolina ruled in favor of the county of Onslow and its elections board on voters’ 14th Amendment claims related to an election districting map; one voter said the maps were drawn by “partisan Democrats” who thought that “the people of Jacksonville are simply too racist to elect a non-white councilmember.” The court disagrees and finds no specific harm done by the redistricting.
