New Mexico doesn’t have to give up voter rolls

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A federal court in New Mexico dismissed the federal government’s lawsuit against the state’s secretary of state, ruling she is not required to produce unredacted voter information under any federal law. The federal government failed to follow statutory guidelines in its demand letter when it failed to include a “basis” and “purpose” for the production of the information, such as violations of federal voting laws or other concerns that could have compelled disclosure.
