NEWARK — Awaiting a trial where he has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, John Formisano, the police lieutenant who killed his wife, shot her boyfriend and left him for dead, was hit Tuesday with civil claims .
The boyfriend, Timothy Simonson, also seeks damages from the city of Newark, New Jersey.
