CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CN) – Duke University Health System says it had to settle numerous personal injury lawsuits because Steris Corp. installed and serviced machines that “sterilized” surgical tools with hydraulic fluid instead of detergent. Duke University Health System runs Duke University Hospital, Durham Regional Hospital and Duke Health Raleigh Hospital fka Raleigh Community Hospital. The screwups allegedly happened in November and December 2004. Duke is represented in Federal Court by Charles Holton with Womble Carlyle & Sandridge.
