Poker Book Author Awarded $1.6 Million

ST. LOUIS (CN) – An author of six books on poker was more than $1.6 million in unpaid royalties from Cardoza Publishing. A federal judge granted default judgment to Ken Warren, for the books he wrote for Cardoza between 1996 and 2008.     Warren claims Cardoza misled him about the number of books it sold and failed to tell him about book sales abroad, in order to duck royalty payments.     U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. granted Warren’s motion for a default judgment after Cardoza failed to answer Warren’s claims. Warren was awarded $1,640,870; he was represented by Jeffrey Witt.     Cardoza Publishing and Avery Cardoza were the defendants.
