Postal Service off the hook

ALEXANDRIA, La. — A federal court in Louisiana agreed with the U.S. Postal Service and dismissed a motorist’s $1.5 million negligence suit following a crash involving a postal worker who blew through a red light. She had negotiated and accepted a settlement check for $2,918, which also released the government from all future claims. She may have believed she was only settling her property damage claim, but this was “a unilateral mistake.”
