WASHINGTON — An appeals court in Washington upheld the dismissal of a suit against the International Finance Corporation brought by residents of Gujarat, India, who claimed the financial institution improperly lent funds to a power project they say damaged their “environment, health, and livelihoods.” The court ruled it lacks jurisdiction because the claims aren’t based on activities in the U.S. and the defendant hasn’t waived its immunity.
