Rent control

ST. PAUL, Minn. (CN) — Two real estate developers sue St. Paul over a rent control law that only allows them to raise rent by 3% yearly regardless of the building’s age, whether a tenant moves out and without consideration for inflation. Their property values have dropped 6%, they say, and reduced the amount of affordable housing as a result.
