Rules for sanctions

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Supreme Court ruled that a lower court erred when it altered the punishment for attorney Loring Justice, who was suspended for three years by a hearing panel for violating court orders, making false statements and interfering with legal proceedings. The trial court swapped his suspension for disbarment, but the hearing panel properly applied standards that call for suspension as the presumptive, baseline sanction.
