School Closures

In three cases challenging the the authority of the Madison and Dane County public health officer to issue emergency orders closing all schools in Dane County for in-person instruction for grades 3-12 during the pandemic, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled local health officials don’t have the power to close schools and the orders violated religious schools’ right to freely exercise religion.
